A NEWBORN DOLL: A UNIQUE GIFT 

     Your Culture Gifts is offering Newborned Dolls this season in their secure online Gift Shop from $169.00 and up.
     The art of “reborning” dolls swept the world a few years ago. Life-like, cuddly, baby dolls were perfected into unique works of art by their artist. Since then, artists and manufacturers have been creating vinyl doll kits, specifically for these artists to create their designs. These babies have the realism of newborn baby features and artists call their art “Newborning”.  Depending on the artist and the design, these works of art normally sell between $200.00 and $2500.00 to avid doll collectors.
     Local doll artist, Trudy Sauri began sculpting dolls a few years ago but discovered the joy of Newborning in 2006. The ability to create diverse skin tones and create individual images is fun and challenging. The process takes a week or more to complete because heat-set paint is applied in multiple layers and hair is rooted one hair at a time. Trudy uses a technique taught by a company in Michigan that manufactures a high quality vinyl kit. She enjoys producing a lovely, American-made product. 
          Originally from Michigan, Ms Sauri and her husband raised their two sons in Massachusetts. They reside in Ellicott City, Maryland near their sons and families.

                                     UNIQUE GIFTS

    Your Culture Gifts is offering three unique gifts this year.  The company offers general gifts meant to crossover age and gender lines (games, music, language) as well as gifts of an intrinsic value (heritage, learning, sharing).  Additional offerings consist of:

   • A newborn baby doll can be purchased for your own newborned collection or for a family member. The cuddly babies make a wonderful “last” doll for a growing child or a lovely addition to a doll collection.

   • The Geography Doll Gift Set consists of a baby doll and five children’s books forming one cultural picture. The first cultural gift to be released is the story of Yucatan, Mexico and will be available at three price points to meet the interests of customers. The books will also be available individually or as a set.

     In addition to the above offerings and items shown in the company’s secure online gift shop, the company offers a service for anyone who would like to share their cultural story with the world. This involved process of research and interviewing could result in an individualized story, incorporating your culture, your history, your genealogy and your memories into a story for your grandchildren to learn from and enjoy.
